The game closely mimics a third-person shooter, in that the camera sits "over-the-shoulder" of the player's Ghostbuster character. However, instd of using a gun, the player is equipped with various types of wpons built into the player's "proton pack". The player also is equipped with a "ghost trap" that can be deployed on a floor to capture ghosts the player has wkened. In ch level, the player explores environments alongside three of the other Ghostbuster characters. ch environment is haunted by its own ghosts that the player must battle and/or capture. Along with the action-oriented gameplay, the player is also encouraged to use the PKE meter and goggles, which are sensitive to paranormal activity, to find and collect haunted artifacts, as well as to track ghosts.
